Peafowls are omnivorous!

Use hanging dishes inside the shed for providing foods, and keep the water elevated so that you do not get droppings in it. You will need to cover their pen, because peafowls are great flyers. Green peafowls are aggressive in nature and they are less common as domestic bird. Among these breeds, Blue Indian are mostly raised peafowl.

Peafowls are omnivorous, their regular includes wheat, rice, vegetables, seeds, insects, snails etc. If you want to raise peafowl on your property, then you have to feed them nutritious foods and make a suitable environment for them. In the wild peacock move over the ground for a short period, most of the time they stay upon the large trees.

The peacock has iridescent blue-green or green colored plumage. In India peacocks are highly available both in the wild and in commercial farms. A general person who have never seen any peacock yet, is also a fan of their feathers.

Most of the people in rural areas raise some birds, such as pigeon, ducks, chicken, swan, quail etc. Actually all types of birds raised for their meat or egg production are called poultry. And the birds which are raised commercially for the purpose of producing meat, egg or features are known as poultry.

In other words, birds are the back boned creatures who have the ability to fly and to control body temperature. Some people also raise birds as a hobby and for entertaining purpose. The female peacock, looks after and rears her peacock chicks on her own without any help from the male peacock.

The female peahen lays between 4 and 8 brown coloured eggs. Generally, the peacock populations are not under great threat although the green peacock, is listed as being vulnerable to extinction mainly due to hunting and habitat loss. Peacocks have a number of natural predators in the wild that include wild dogs and cats , medium sized mammals such as raccoons and even tigers have been known to hunt peacocks.

The peacock (also known as peafowl) is a medium sized bird most closely related to the pheasant Unlike it's common pheasant cousin that inhabits areas of the Northern Hemisphere, the peacock is found in warmer climate of the Southern Hemisphere, with the peacock being most commonly found in India. Peacocks and peahens also are able to fly, and they are definitely old world! Wild turkeys, much leaner birds, have no problem flying.

Modern, farm-raised birds tend to be almost flightless because breeding has so greatly increased the proportion of meat to bone. Allow me, if you may, to present information from Encyclopaedia Brittanica concerning this most-colorful and well-known bird: According to Brittanica, peacocks are members of the pheasant family (and if I'm not mistaken, pheasants are indeed kosher) and the families Galliforms (chicken-like) and Phasianidae (this family includes partridge, peacock, pheasant, and quail. Since we lack the experience to apply these rules, for all intents and purposes we are permitted to eat only those birds that we have a tradition regarding their being kosher (Ramo YD 82:3).
